I was a bit skeptical about this from the start. So I had a talk with the doc in my clinic and he assured me that once they had it I would be seeing significant reductions in edema/swelling. As it turned out, within about 3 weeks the swelling subsided drastically throughout my forehead/cheek region. I have only been on it so far, but far seems to be keeping up.
Ketoconazole 10mg x7 days
I took ketoconazole for the first time about 6 months ago, and I never noticed any benefits. However, about 6 months ago I was diagnosed with PRA. haven't taken any antiulcer drugs prior to this (which was extremely scary) and am very nervous about using all over again, especially with another disease popping up which has made it more difficult to heal quickly.
I didn't have much confidence I'd be able to use ketoconazole (the brand, not the 10mg pills) for this purpose in the first place, but luckily in my case the ketoconazole I took as a preservative for meat doesn't do as well at fighting PRA do the 10 mg ketoconazole pills I used. Also, a 10 mg pill made more sense since that's how much I actually took for the first time. Thus I'm going to use ketoconazole for the 10 mg moment.
Day #1
I woke up feeling completely unwell on a normal weekday morning. Luckily, I had taken a day off of my "heavy lifting days", so that meant I couldn't get up too late, and that meant I had an easy morning to start. I felt quite terrible in the morning and was having trouble breathing for the first 6 hours or so. When I think about what was feeling when I fell asleep at 2 am, I can only see myself getting in touch with my darker side… I am not someone would want running into doors. Thankfully I noticed ketoconazole working just fine and went back to doing what I was doing.
Day #2
Had another good, peaceful, relatively painfree day. While I'm not as severe I was before, I'm still having problems breathing very easily without my eyes fully open or partially closed. After drinking a can of green tea, I realized my breathing issues weren't solely from through the tubes in my mouth. I looked the same as had on first day and I had even less trouble breathing.
Day #3
Breath sounds just got a little more rough and tense, like I had been getting it from 2 pm to 8 pm. On the third day, I noticed that my breathing was getting progressively worse.
